The Autumn Term has been a fantastic start to the academic year at Hazel Grove High School and Hazel Grove Sixth Form, with lots of exciting things going on! To end what has been a brilliant year, we have wrapped up some of the highlights from the last few events and have a festive message from Mr Stewart and Mrs Lambert.

 Hazel Grove High School:

Winter Concert:

We had a brilliant Winter Concert with more musicians than ever! All students have worked so hard in preparation for their Winter Concert, thank you to everyone who took part and anyone behind the scenes who helped make the performance show stopping!

Early Essentials Stockport Charity:

Donations to charity

Throughout this term students have taken part in our Active Citizenship programme, designed to provide them with leadership and service opportunities as well as fostering a strong link to our local community.

As part of this, we held an appeal for the Early Essentials Stockport charity to support new mothers. We can’t thank our school community enough for their support – the charity were beyond grateful for everything we donated. They said we were their biggest single donation ever!

Our donations have kept mums and babies together and given them a start to life that they might not have otherwise had, which is truly incredible!

Shepley House residential care home visit:

Care home visit

Our Active Citizens spread some festive cheer in their recent visit to a local care home! Students from Years 7-10 took a trip to see the residents of Shepley House residential care home. They delivered the winning Christmas postcard designed by our own students as part of our fundraising competition for our school charities.

During their visit, they also played some board games and had a good chat and singalong. It was a wonderful way to finish the term and they were a credit to our school!

Hazel Grove Sixth Form:

We’ve had an excellent first term of this academic year at Hazel Grove Sixth Form!

Student Cabinet:

In November, we were excited to introduce our new Sixth Form cabinet members, including our Cabinet Chair, Lucas, and Vice Chair, Tom. Our cabinet represent student opinion, and they have already been busy with meetings to discuss exciting projects such as our Sixth Form magazine, the ‘Grove Gazette’, MFL mentoring in lower school, the Year 13 leavers event and our student charitable Secret Santa!

Sixth Form Banksy:

We all got into the festive spirit in December, from preparing our charity secret santa to hunting around the building to see what surprises our Secret Sixth Form ‘Banksy’ has left for us each day!

Christmas tree

It has been a great few months here at HGSF, with so many memorable moments to look back on. For now, we wish our students and staff a very Merry Christmas and look forward to seeing everyone back in sixth form in the new year!
