This term the Art Department has received an influx of post in response to our summer term postcard competition. We have been thrilled with the response from both students and staff who have gone out of their way to get creative and embrace the postal system, which at the beginning of lockdown enabled us to make physical, if distanced, connections with loved ones during a difficult time.
The artwork which we have received has not only shown great skill but some truly poignant ideas and feelings in response to lockdown. We are so proud of everyone who has taken part in this competition and chosen to express themselves through art – thank you!
The department hopes to hold an exhibition of creativity throughout lockdown, showcasing not only all of the postcards which we received but some of the fabulous self-directed work students have kindly shared with us throughout this unusual time. These have brightened our days and reminded us of the positive impact the arts can have, as well as the resilience of young people. We hope to share this with you in the near future.
