Curriculum Statement - Business
“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest” – Benjamin Franklin
Powerful Knowledge in Business
Powerful knowledge in business is the realisation that business is part of everybody’s, everyday life as a consumer, potential employee and stakeholder of society. It is a “real life” understanding that businesses and the economy are intrinsically linked, affecting every part of their life, both now and in their future. Business empowers inquisitiveness, expecting students to analytically question business actions considering the internal and external factors that influence decisions making.
We encourage students to move away from the rigidity of specification learned content to broaden understanding of issues within the economy/politics empowering them to tackle and interpret any given business situation through sound business understanding.
Curriculum Features
We will develop minds inspired to understand the relationships between structures, responsibilities and actions within specific areas of business organisations – operations, marketing, finance, HR.
We analyse a wide range of businesses within the real world asking students to enquire about their products/services, competitive environment, finances and impact on the environment. We encourage students to examine why some businesses are so successful, and yet others make mistakes that can lead to some businesses failing.
We want a greater understanding of the world of Business, teaching to broaden minds about the environment of business and enterprise, to become worldly wise. Students will have the opportunity to consider cultures, ideas, opinions from the business world being aware of environmental/ethical, regional/religious/ethnic and socio-economic issues that may all have an impact on enterprise.
