Hazel Grove High School’s Eco Council have successfully campaigned for paper recycling bins to be added to every classroom in the school.
Pupils will now also be able to recycle their plastic bottles at key sites around the school grounds and in the canteens.
This marks a year of hard work for the pupils of HGHS Eco Council.
In the past year they have met with the Head of School and with the Estates team to discuss ways in which the school can become more sustainable.
The group have also undertaken their own monitoring and evaluation of the school site. The data will be used to guide this year’s agenda – students are hoping to undertake a range of projects which will increase the biodiversity of the grounds.
The Eco Council will also be building on the success of their school litter picking work by taking their pickers beyond the school gates, demonstrating their enthusiasm and consideration for the environment amongst our local community!
