The coronavirus pandemic has provided us all with various challenges but the entire Hazel Grove High School community has risen to them admirably, enabling us to continue providing education and support throughout lockdown.
Across the entire Laurus Trust, we have delivered around 5,000 lessons via Microsoft TEAMS, distributed paperwork packs, provided pastoral care and continued to support 1,000 pupils in school, as we opened every week day during lockdown.
Maintenance staff have ensured buildings have remained safe and clean and teaching staff have assessed thousands of GCSE and A level students, with the data and exams team entering 4,932 grades by hand. We have continued to support our Yr 11 and Yr 13 students, whose exams year was cut so dramatically short.
Virtual assemblies have been held, online taster sessions hosted and welcome programmes made available on our websites for new students joining our schools and sixth forms in September.
These are only the highlights of what has been an incredible team effort but, most importantly, it is the support of the parents and carers along with the incredible hard work of our students, under the most difficult of circumstances, that makes our school what it is.
As we look ahead to returning to Hazel Grove School in September, we thank parents, carers, students and staff for all they’ve done this academic year and wish you a safe and happy summer break.
